nothing says home like cinder blocks

Hey All! As promised, I am writing to you from our new apartment in Iowa City. The word "new" in the previous sentence refers to the apartment being new to us. It is definitely not a new apartment in the sense that it was recently built. In fact, our new apartment is scheduled to be demolished this summer. With that in mind, I asked the powers that be if Brenda and I could paint the walls seeing as we will be the last tenants to live in this apartment. Their answer? Probably not. Oh well, I've got bigger things to worry about.

And speaking of classes, I just finished my second day and I'm slowly remembering what it means to be a law student at a school where teachers publicly humiliate us so we learn good. For example, a student was called on in one of my classes today (not me, thank goodness) and he told the professor that he wasn't prepared for class. The professor responded that his policy is that if you're not prepared for class, then he marks you down as absent. Ouch. Don't worry, I've already read for all of my classes tomorrow.

Brenda arrived in Iowa City on Sunday, and it has been wonderful having her here. She has been unpacking, buying things we need for the apartment, and providing great support to her stressed out husband. She'll be here until next week at which point she'll return to Frankfurt for another performance of Guilio Cesare.

It looks like dinner is ready so I had better get going. I'll try to take some pictures of the apartment this week so you can see what our new digs look like. Until next time, have a great week!
