We've found many things to fill our time including joining a gym. There is a nice (and cheap) gym on the way to the opera house that doesn't have too many bells and whistles (like a pool or sauna) but it fits our needs just fine. Next time you see us you will probably mistake us for Abercrombie & Fitch models.
We've also started gearing up for Christmas. We went to Woolworths (the closest thing here to a Target) and started collecting some Christmas decorations. Seeing as we wont be celebrating with our families until January it is going to be a 3 month Christmas season.
(As I look again at the pictures of the penguin and the snowman it occurs to me that they're getting mug shots taken or are standing before some Christmas hating firing squad.)
One Christmas product here that I don't remember from the US is Advent calendars filled with chocolate. As you can probably imagine, each day of Advent you open up the little paper door and a delicious piece of chocolate is waiting for you. There are all different kinds: cartoon ones for the kids, his and hers in two separate pink and blue heart shape boxes (you wouldn't want to fight over chocolate), some that are more traditional and, of course, ones with Santa and a scantily clad Christmas helper. We haven't bought any yet but I've been eyeing a Lindt chocolate one.
That gets you caught up with things on our end. I'm sure you're all getting excited for Thanksgiving. I know my Mom has already been working on lefsa. This will be the first Thanksgiving in 29 years that I miss at my Parent's house in Ankeny. We are, however, planning on attending a Thanksgiving dinner in Frankfurt so we'll still get our Turkey (or Tofurkey as it were). Have a great week!
