Happy Halloween!

We hope you all had a wonderfully frightful Halloween.  We really enjoyed ours even though Halloween isn't really celebrated here.  Some of the stores sell candy and decorations but their focus is mostly on Christmas (we first saw Christmas decorations in early October).  We did see a few trick-or-treaters scampering about town but for the most part we were left to our own Halloween devices.  We didn't dress up or anything like that but we did pick up a few horror movies and some candy.  We filled a bag with candy and took it to our friends the McCowns.  It was trick-or-treating in reverse.  Then we picked up some pizza and watched Night of the Living Dead and Black Sheep.  As you all probably know the former is a zombie classic that was made in 1968.  The latter is a relatively new release that was set in New Zealand.  I can't watch graphic horror movies without losing sleep for the next week so we stuck with an old horror movie and a comedic one.

Among operas the Turn of the Screw is about as close to a horror opera as you can get.  It is well timed that Brenda has her first performance of the Turn of the Screw this evening.  I had the pleasure of seeing the final dress rehearsal on Wednesday and it is a fantastic production.  I wish you could all come and see it.  If you're interested in seeing any pictures of Brenda on-stage in the Turn of the Screw then please click here.

We're excitedly awaiting the arrival of Brenda's parents this upcoming Friday.  It should prove to be a fun filled weekend.  Not only will Brenda's parents be here but an American reviewer is coming into town to review the Turn of the Screw and interview Brenda.  Also, a friend of Brenda's who was a German exchange student that stayed with the Klinkerts will be coming into town to spend time with all of us and see the opera.

Well, I had better start getting ready for the opera.  I hope you're all having a great weekend.  Tschüss!
