there's always more to learn

Hey all! Things have been relatively quiet around here since I wrote to you last, although Brenda has still had a lot (of music) on her mind. If you've ever wondered what opera singers do in between performances, the answer most often is that they are learning new repertoire. For example, Brenda's been busy lately polishing up some songs for a recital she's giving on Sunday and also working on an opera role that she'll be singing in Munich in September. She's actually in the middle of a long period of learning new roles, which means that as soon as she is performing one role she's learning the next one (or two). Luckily, there is a break in sight. Next May she'll be able to relax a little from learning new repertoire.

After a rainy day there was a beautiful sunset for Brenda's performance of Don Pasquale last night.

Brenda's parents are arriving tonight and her twin comes in tomorrow. We're so excited to have them all here and are looking forward to showing them some of our favorite parts of New Mexico. They will also get to see both of Brenda's operas and her recital. I'm afraid I need to cut this short here. We need to run off to a cast party before we go to the airport to pick up Brenda's folks. I hope you all have a great week, and we'll talk to you next Tuesday!
