a chilly welcome

Hello all and greetings from Chicago! It’s been almost two months since we repatriated, and it’s been really nice to be back in the Midwest. Especially since we’ve been able to see our families so often. I must admit, however, that I’ve had a few moments when I’ve wondered why we chose to move to one of the coldest places in the U.S. when we could have moved to California or even Hawaii. But those moments are fleeting, and Rowan really loves shoveling snow.

Brenda is in her final week of rehearsals for Handel’s Ariodante at the Lyric Opera of Chicago. The first performance is this Saturday, and it sounds like it will be an excellent show. On the topic of opera, The Metropolitan Opera announced its 2019/20 season recently which means we can now officially tell you that Brenda will be making her Met debut in Handel’s Agrippina next season. One of the performances will be broadcast live in theaters on February 29, 2020, so if you can’t make it to New York perhaps you can see Brenda on the big screen in a theater near you.

I’m still looking for a job in the Minneapolis  area and, even though I haven’t landed a position yet, I’ve been encouraged that a couple of places have been interested enough to interview me. I feel fortunate that I don’t need to rush to find a job. Rowan will let me work for him as much as I want.

Until next time, have a great week!

Rowan and I have been doing a lot of this.

We haven’t had nearly enough fires in our fireplace yet.
