Hello and greetings from Minneapolis! I wrote the following blog entry nine days ago and am just now getting around to posting it. As you’ll soon discover in the post below, I started a new job a few days ago. I have a lot to learn, but it’s been going well so far. I’ll fill you in more on that and on other goings on in our lives in a subsequent post. Until then, I hope you enjoy this slightly outdated update.
Hey all! I’m on an airplane flying back to Minneapolis after a short but wonderful trip to New York City. The reason for the getaway was Brenda’s performance of Handel’s Semele with The English Concert at Carnegie Hall. Brenda has been on tour with the orchestra, along with several other excellent singers, for the past couple weeks, and she’ll have her seventh and final show in Philadelphia tomorrow. You know what I’m going to say about Brenda’s performance but let me say it anyway: she was amazing. Truly, everyone on the stage - from the soloists to the orchestra to the choir - was exceptional. Rumor has it that Semele hadn’t been performed at Carnegie Hall since 1985. This ensemble was a great reason to bring the piece back.
In other news Rowan turned three last month and he loved every minute of his birthday party. We had family and friends, cake (made by Brenda), balloons, and presents. What’s not to like? Rowan seems to be growing every day, both physically and mentally, and I’m often amazed at the things he says. How interesting it would be to have the mind of a three year old. I suppose I did once upon a time, but those days are a little hazy in my memory.
It’s been almost five years since I graduated from law school, and next week I will start my first job as a lawyer. I accepted a law clerk position for a judge in Minneapolis and am really excited about it. It will further complicate our already complicated lives, but I’m optimistic that it will be a good thing for Chendowan (and our soon-to-arrive +1).
I hope you’re all having a happy tax day! Until next time, have a great week!
